Here's the handsome man himself off to his interview at VCU. What a stud.
Our view of Richmond from the hotel room.
The AMTRAK coming to take us to DC.
We spent a lot of time walking and a lot of time on the metro in DC. We learned that subways are the greatest thing in the world, and DC rocks because almost everything is free and the food is soooooo good. We got to see such things as...
The White House
The Washington Monument
Good Old Abe
The war memorials are incredible. We stopped by the WWII, Vietnam, and Korean memorials, then later went up to the Arlington cemetery where we saw JFK's grave with its eternal flame and the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
We also took advantage of what some of the Smithsonian had to offer. We went to the National Zoo, the Natural History Museum, and the American History Museum.
We picked the perfect day to go to the zoo. All the animals were out doing crazy stuff. We even got to catch a glimpse of the new baby gorilla, though her mom was pretty good at hiding her.
The natural history museum was awesome. Ryan's favorite: the mammal exhibit. My favorite: the Hope Diamond!
As mentioned before, we grew to love the food in DC. One of the restaurants we went to was called Marrakesh. It's a Moroccan restaurant that serves this 7 course meal. You eat it all with your hands while being entertained by belly dancers. It was so entertaining and fun. Apparently pretty famous as well. We walked past pictures of Brad Pitt and other well known celebs with the owner on our way out.
We also grabbed lunch at the famous Ben's Chili Bowl. This little restaurant has a line out the door! We heard about it from one of our shuttle driver in Richmond who used to live in DC. Apparently this restaurant has been visited by a ton of Presidents, Bill Cosby, Bono, Denzel Washington, etc.
We had such a good time. I was glad to see some of the sites in DC, since I had never been and Ryan was glad to get in some fun along with his interview.

looks fun! isn't DC great? I love that all the museums are free!
Looks like a lot of fun. When will you hear about the interview?
Ryan did look really sharp in his suit! If the interview went as good as he looked, he is definately in! Your Dad says he wants to eat at Ben's Chilie Bowl. Glad you had a fun time and enjoyed the metro system.
That looks like so much fun! I'm sure Ryan did great and you look so cute! Keep us posted when you hear back!
I am so jealous! You both look like you had a great time! Luke loves the pics of the elephants! Ryan looks great all dressed up! We hope that the interview went well! Let us know when you hear about anything!
Kris and Ryan--we wish we could have met up with you guys while you were there. It's super ironic that Derrick was there just a day or two before you got there. Talk about timing. We'll have to try out some of those restaurants with you when you guys live there (if that's where you choose to go). :)
Ditto to what everyone else said...especially the part about letting us know where you will be!! When do you think you'll know? I have heard DC is great and it looks like you guys had a great time! Sweet belly dancers. lol!!
